Duke is Crowned NCAA 2015 Champs!
Being headquartered in the beautiful state of North Carolina you can bet your bottom dollar that our office can become pretty divided when that perennial question is asked: Which blue is better? Is it the dark blue represented by the Duke Blue Devils, or the light blue worn by the Carolina Tarheels?
Well, the word is in. Duke is the 2015 NCAA Tournament Champions. Coach K and the Blue Devils will get to stand alone on the podium for the next year, and dark blue will be a color of pride for many around the state. And even though our office Tarheel fans will not likely show upto work in dark blue anytime soon, it is evident that ALL of our Filmwerks employees are more than proud to see the Final Four game broadcasts go off without a hitch regardless of which team won.
Over the course of the Final Four Tournament Filmwerksprovided power to 18 trucks and up-links and 5 office trailers. All in all 2 megawatts of power were continuously fed throughout the Final Four tourney which was achieved with the assistance of 6 generators. Lucas Oil Stadium, where the event was held, was a prime example of forward-thinking architecture for us as the layout allowed us to run most of our cable underground in order to avoid having to deploy as many protective cable ramps. On top of the generators we also provided some staging structures with climate control. One stage was a showcase for the new line of Infinity automobiles, while the other was the CBS stage where the outdoor broadcast took place. We had three highly skilled technicians on-site for the duration of the games to ensure the generators ran properly and the throngs of people didn’t damage the stages. Needless to say they got the job done right!
With all of the excitement built up for the games themselves it is easy to forget what goes on behind the scenes, but without Filmwerks there to provide power, cables, and staging for the announcers then the Final Four broadcast could very well have never reached your household television set!
